Schwarzenegger: AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT is back
HEALTHY PLANET - HEALTHY PEOPLE is the motto of the fifth AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT, which will take place on July 1st at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna.
The AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT, a fixture in the international environmental calendar, will take place for the fifth time on July1st2021. At the Spanish Riding School in the heart of Vienna, guests from all over the world will discuss current climate issues such as the re-entry of the USA into the Paris Agreement or the European Green Deal under the motto HEALTHY PLANET -HEALTHY PEOPLE.
Host Arnold Schwarzenegger: "I am excited to team up with President Van der Bellen and Chancellor Kurz once again for the Austrian World Summit. Join us, and countless other climate action heroes from around the world, in Vienna on July 1st for our 5th annual event where we will celebrate America’s re-entry into the Paris Agreement and continue the crusade for a healthy planet and healthy people. International guests will be joining the conference in person, by video message or via live broadcast to discuss concrete solutions to make the world a better and healthier place. In addition to the Federal President of Austria Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, other guests from the world of politics such as Vice-President of the European Commission Frans Timmermans, COP26 President Alok Sharma and the presidents from the Seychelles and Latvia are expected in Vienna. Climate activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden, primatologist Jane Goodall from Great Britain, and Nicola Sturgeon, Scottish First Minister and host of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, will join via live broadcast. German Chancellor Angela Merkel, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, professional cyclist Peter Sagan and many more will be speaking to the audience via video messages.
With the new Biden administration in office, the USA is showing a strong sign in terms of climate protection and will also be prominently represented at the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT on a political and business level. Lisa Jackson, former head of the US Environmental Protection Agency and current Sustainability Manager at Apple, will represent the perspective of one of the world's largest companies.
In the afternoon exciting panels on health and climate change, sustainable economic recovery and the power of consumers will await the guests of this year’s summit. Experts such as Michael Ryan from the WHO, economist Kate Raworth and transformation researcher Maja Göpel, as well as representatives from the business community, will discuss these topics.
