Jonathan Wittenberg is Senior Rabbi of Masorti Judaism and founder of Eco-Judaism. He is a President of the Council of Christians and Jews, and a signatory to the Drumlanrig Accords between Jewish and Muslim leaders. He teaches and speaks widely, including on BBC Radio 4’s Thought for the Day. His publications include The Eternal Journey: Meditations on the Jewish Year (2001); The Silence of Dark Water, An Inner Journey (2008); My Dear Ones: One Family and The Final Solution (2016); Things My Dog Has Taught Me About Being A Better Human (2017); and Listening for God in Torah and Creation (2023). He was awarded an honorary doctorate by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2015 and an OBE in 2024/5 for services to the Jewish community and for work for interfaith understanding. He is passionate about climate and biodiversity with a deep love for plants, birds and animals. He is married to Nicola Solomon; they have three children and a dog.
