On September 17, 2020, the Climate Kirtag took place for the second time on Vienna's Heldenplatz - naturally with strict corona health and safety measures. Celebrities from the worlds of art, culture, sports and politics came to the event to campaign for more climate protection.
Host Arnold Schwarzenegger addressed the Kirtag visitors via video message with an urgent appeal: "Let's make the world a better place. That's exactly what we need to do. The only way we can do this, is if we all work together.”
Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, whom organizer Monika Langthaler welcomed live on stage, located some movement on the issue of climate protection: "Something is happening right across the political spectrum. The sensitivity for this topic is increasing - Corona or not.”
Erich Altenkopf and Lilian Klebow, weather presenter Marcus Wadsak and musicians like Lemo and Folkshilfe entertained the guests of the Climate Kirtag. Presenter duo Tom Walek and Barbara Meier lead through the main program. At several Kirtag booths, there was also information on climate protection projects and raffles. The entire event was held as a "Green Event".
We kindly ask you to use climate-friendly transportation. Our mobility partner ÖBB has a unique offer for our guests this year:
At the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT you can visit the ÖBB booth at the CLIMATE KIRTAG and, upon presentation of your ÖBB train ticket, you will receive ÖBB vouchers to the value of your ticket in return. We would be happy, if you donate this amount to a climate project directly on site. Thus, with your climate-friendly journey and donation to the project, you will contribute twice to active climate protection. (Note: Voucher solution is valid for ÖBB tickets for journeys to the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT on 17 September 2020 on price basis 2nd class within Austria)

Conservation of resources & Regionality
For all materials in use as well as for the catering conservation of resources, the protection of the environment and sustainability are top priorities. Food originates from regional and organic production and fair trade respectively. Also give-aways fulfil the sustainability standards. In order to avoid waste, drinks and meals will be served solely in and on reusable dishes. Leftovers can be taken home in the “Tafelbox”. For each box 20 cent go to the Austrian Tafeln, a charity organization, which serves impoverished people with saved food.
It is especially important to us that participants can travel to and from the venue in an environmentally friendly manner. The venue, Hofburg, is located centrally and can be conveniently reached by public transport (for more on transportation, also see above). There is sufficient space to park bicycles around the venue. Furthermore, there is also a city-bike station as well as e-charging stations (for example, in the garage on Robert-Stolzplatz).
