Germany’s most successful ski racer in World Cup history, with five World Championship medals and 15 World Cup victories, has always been deeply committed to inspiring children and young people to engage in sports and take on social responsibility—even during his active career. His goal is to instill a love of movement in young people and contribute to a healthy future. His strong connection to the mountains motivates him to raise awareness about the value of nature and to protect the environment for future generations.
In 2020, he founded his own foundation, which implements the physical activity and education program “Beweg dich schlau! Ein Programm der Felix Neureuther Stiftung” ( „Beweg dich schlau! A program of the Felix Neureuther Foundation”) which has already reached over 130,000 children, as well as the environmental protection program Naturhelden, which he co-initiated with his father, Christian.
Felix is also one of the four initiators of Gesunde Erde. Gesunde Kinder. (Healthy Planet. Healthy Children.), the first initiative in the German-speaking world to focus specifically on the connections between children’s health, climate change, and environmental protection.
In 2025, Felix was appointed by the United Nations as a UN Advocate for Clean Mountains and Glaciers and was honored with the Goldenes Band (Golden Ribbon) by the Association of German Sports Journalists for his longstanding commitment. Prior to that, he had already received the Bavarian Sports Award from the Minister-President for his athletic and personal achievements, the Goldene Henne (Golden Hen)from MDR for his life’s work, and the Bavarian Constitution Medal. In addition, the Bavarian Minister-President appointed him as the Official Ambassador of Bavarian Sports.
Alongside his social initiatives, Felix has also published various books (including the IXI children’s book series, „Unsere Alpen“ (Our Alps), „Das Erbe der Alpen“ (The Legacy of the Alps), and in fall 2025, „Das Wasser der Alpen“ (The Waters of the Alps) with National Geographic). He serves as a winter sports expert on ARD television and hosts the podcast Pizza & Pommes. Moreover, he critically explores the intersection of sustainability and sports in four ARD documentaries, most recently „Alpentourismus in Gefahr“ (Alpine Tourism in Danger).
